Tel Aviv University, Johns Hopkins to launch joint double-degree program

Tel Aviv University, Johns Hopkins to launch joint double-degree program

The degrees include a Master of Arts in International Affairs, Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Cyber Politics and Government, Developing Countries, and Security and Diplomacy.

Tel Aviv University (TAU) and Johns Hopkins University are launching a cooperative degree program for students pursuing a Master of Arts in International Affairs, Conflict Resolution and Mediation, Cyber Politics and Government, Developing Countries or Security and Diplomacy.

Students who choose to participate in the program will spend a year at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy, and another year at the Tel Aviv University Gershon H. Gordon Faculty of Social Sciences; they can begin the course at either campus. Graduates will receive two master’s degrees, one from each university.

“Our agenda is to train and equip the students with knowledge and experience to enable them to improve our society and help create a better world,” according to TAU Social Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Itai Sened. “We are proud and excited to launch a collaboration with the Bologna branch of Johns Hopkins University.”

Some other institutions involved in the program include McGill University, Sciences Po Lille, SOAS London, the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the University of Leiden, the University of Bologna and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.

“The new cooperative degree with Tel-Aviv University provides students the opportunity to experience two distinct academic, social and cultural environments, to develop a global perspective and to better understand the challenges facing Europe and the Middle East,” said SAIS Europe director Michael Plummer. “It is an excellent opportunity for students interested in a multidisciplinary, international tool-based graduate education in international affairs.”

Everything You Need to Know About FBISD Skyward Family Access

Everything You Need to Know About FBISD Skyward Family Access

If you have children in FBISD, you’re probably familiar with their online learning platform called Skyward fbisd Family Access. The purpose of this program is to allow parents to monitor their child’s grades and attendance, set educational goals, and get information about upcoming events at their school as well as the district. However, some parents may be confused about how this software works and what its features are, which is why I decided to write this article on FBISD Skyward Family Access for them. Here’s everything you need to know about it!

How To Get Started

To begin, you’ll want to first log in on your student dashboard. Scroll down and look for Family Access then click on it. Once you click on that, there should be a blue box where you enter your username and password. The email that they send will have instructions on how to create a username/password as well.

Why Should I Have An Account?

If you have children in any of your schools, whether they be K-5, 6-8 or 9-12, you should have an account. Having an account allows for easier communication with teachers and school staff about your child’s progress and achievement. Having an account also enables parent portal access from anywhere there is internet access.

Is The Data Secure?

The information is encrypted using industry-standard security protocols and can only be accessed by you and your family. That means if someone else  gains access to your password, they’ll still need a keycode sent to your phone or received as an SMS message in order to get into your account.

Where Does The Data Go?

In order for you or your teachers to access your student’s data, it has to go somewhere. There are actually two different places that it could end up. Data being accessed by teachers will be uploaded into SIS (Student Information System). This data can only be used by the district, school, and appropriate staff members, meaning they must have some sort of access level (Teacher, Paraprofessional or Administrator) within a school in order to see any of their students’ information.

Can My Child See Their Grades On Their Phone?

Students can access their grades via their parents’ accounts through Facebook. However, parents cannot see their children’s grades. Students do not have access to parent accounts on Facebook. Parental and student privacy is always a top priority in our district, and we want you to feel confident that your information is secure. We follow state guidelines for using social media as an educational tool.

How Do I Set Up The Parent Portal?

Setting up your Parent Portal can be confusing. To simplify things, we’ve outlined our step-by-step process below. If you have questions or need help along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out! We are here for you every step of the way. Also, once you sign up for your free trial of Parent Portal, check out our easy set-up guide.

What If My Child Doesn’t Have A Cell Phone?

If your child does not have a cell phone, you can easily purchase one for him or her. One great way to save money is to use a prepaid cell phone. These phones come with no contract, so you’re free from any long-term financial commitment. Students can also get a cheap cell phone from Walmart if they don’t have one already! All of these options are easy on your bank account and will allow you and your student to keep in touch.

How Do I Know My Child’s Grades On Their Device?

The easiest way to check your child’s grades is through your own Student Detail view within MyAccess. If you are logged in, go up to the Student Detail tab and you will be able to click on each student listed. This will bring up a list of all classes that have assignments due with their grades next to them.
